Self explanatory, yes?

2) We don't know that. It's good that some of the ex-protesters respectfully attended the ceremony. But the smart move was to get them all out before the ceremony and remove any chance that one or more of them would attempt to defile it. It was also respectful to the veterans to not allow law breakers to be in the park while remembering those who died in service.

Re: Open and Transparent?

So why can't council reveal how they voted for this? It was not a unanimous decision. There is also the issue of council possiable breaking the police services act by directly deciding on police actions. Two wrongs do not make a right.

Also clearing out the camp would have done nothing to prevent any protest during rememberance day ceramonies. As a matter of fact members of occupy london were there on the 11th in support of veteran's.

Re: Open and Transparent?

Case (a) is clearly and solidly the circumstance. People were "occupying" city property for several days and refused to leave even after being told they were in violation of city by-law and being instructed, by the mayor himself, to go. To have an "open and transparent" discussions would have allowed the adversaries occupying the park to know what the plans were to remove them. That would have been stupid of city council to reveal.

Whatever the case, the process worked and the protestors were removed from the park in under an hour, eliminating the threat of their possibly disrupting or gaining media attention during the much more important Remembrance Day ceremonies. If "in-camera meetings" were a part of that success, then they were proved to be appropriate for the circumstances.

Re: A new chapter begins

Enjoy the new path!!

Re: A new chapter begins

Thank you very much for your kind words Glen it means a great deal to me. I'm somewhat in a similar position and have been enjoying doing many of the things I care about. I just want to thank you for your fine example of dedicated citizenship over these last few years, as I've followed some of your efforts on the Net. Another example is the recent vote to proceed with the green bin pilot; an expensive project that London doesn't need. Some councillors appear to not have basic budgeting skills. A no-tax-increase mandate means unessential expenses should be cut or postponed. I do it with my home budget every month; there are some things, no matter how nice they might be to have, that do not fit into the budget and we don't buy them. If I can do it, I expect councillors to be able to do it too.

Re: It’s Not About The Chickens

I agree with Michael and thank you for sharing this.

Re: It’s Not About The Chickens

I actually just started reading about the topic this evening and I agree, it really isn't about the chickens.
Can't see the NDP accomplishing anything at all. We need a centralized, national citizen group to remind him we are the majority, and his agenda is contrary to the wishes of this country's citizens.

We need it to have a strong voice and have media attention. Maybe that combined with a united opposition *might* make him think twice about some of his misguided, deluded, unCanadian plans.

Every riding needs it's own chapter to hound the local MPs and remind them they work for us and not Harper. Their actions must be held accountable to us, not to him.

Harper is counting on this never coming to fruition. he would scoff at the notion.

Re: Passions, Politics and Social Media

Thanks for replying to the post. I appreciate you taking the time to post your thoughts on the blog,

If you read my blogs 'about' page or even look at a few of the other posts you will see I write about many things.

No insult was intended to Stewart, I have not had the fortune of meeting him personally but I understand from other people he's a nice guy. He"s also very passionate in his political position. However if you going to make comments to support your candidate make sure you are adult enough to answer a question in an adult way,not restoring to cheap shots to deflect things.
That is a childish thing to do and I don't think any parent would be happy if their child acted in that way. It was not intend as a slight directed to his child. As I posted, I apologized to Stewart if he thought that's what I meant, he accepted my apology and decided to block me on twitter.

If Stewart had answered the question, like every other candidate in the riding has, or even said "I'm not going to answer it" that would have been fine. But it seemS like the strategy for the party he represents is to not talk with the people unless instructed to. At that point they must try and confuse and insult instead of treating the voters like adults. There was a very good blog recently from someone who know's Mr Holder and expresses surprise and disappointment for the lack of engagement. It's a shame when a local candidate can't do anything unless the war room says ok.

This is what you blog about? There are so many issues in the world and you're focusing on something that was said or not said via twitter? If you don't have kids, I don't think it's fair of you to judge Mr. blair's response. Shame on you for letting a politicL conversation come to this.

Re: Passions, Politics and Social Media

Thanks for your comments Derek.
It's really a pet peeve of mine when they don't show up followed by the putdowns instead of answering a question. And this is from someone who works for the Holder campaign.

Re: Passions, Politics and Social Media

Well put Stuart. Mr. Blair took your comment entirely out of context, and clearly this all could have been avoided with a response like, "He has to be 7 debates out of a possible 12," or whatever the number is.

Even out here in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, Bev Shipley has skipped all-candidates debates. One in particular was held at the Chippewas reserve to the west of the riding. Clearly Bev thinks he can piss off natives and still win in LKM, which may be true (unfortunately).

Re: IPad2 One Week Later

Guilty as charged!

Re: IPad2 One Week Later

Too bad it can't help with your spelling!
